HP Multifunction Printer Named 2018 “Product of the Year” by CRN

This month, the HP PageWide Enterprise Color Flow MFP 785z+ was named a winner of the 2018 Product of the Year Award by CRN, a brand of The Channel Company. The HP multifunction printer (MFP) was also awarded the winner of each three sub-categories including Technology, Revenue and Profit, and Consumer Demand. The 2018 Products of the Year are featured in the December issue of CRN, in print and available online here.

Products and services named by CRN in its 2018 Product of the Year Awards represent best-in-breed technological innovation, financial opportunity for partners, and customer demand. For the third year in a row, the winners were determined through a combination of editorial selection and a survey fielded to solution providers, who are currently selling both the technology and specific vendor product, to accurately capture real-world satisfaction among partners and their customers.

“The 2018 Products of the Year winners deserve this recognition for being the top-performing products in the industry,” said Bob Skelley, CEO of The Channel Company. “These innovative products and services have the required technical elements, revenue and profit potential, and ability to fulfill customer demand that solution providers are looking for. This list serves as an important guide for channel partners on the highest-potential technologies and services in the market today.”

HP Award-Winning A3 MFPs Powering City of Arlington, Texas Forward

HP’s award-winning A3 MFPs provide customers a spectrum of powerful tools and cost savings across both PageWide and LaserJet choices. Together with managed print services (MPS), HP’s A3 MFPs anticipate problems, schedule maintenance, and ensure that printers are consistently up and running.

Take the City of Arlington, Texas, who partnered with ImageNet to improve efficiency and reduce costs among its network of 900 aging printers and copiers with a MPS program. Security, standardization, and ease-of-use were essential for the new fleet. At the recommendation of ImageNet, Arlington upgraded most of its devices to next-generation HP A3 MFPs designed for MPS and high-volume printing. The City also upgraded legacy A4 devices with HP LaserJet Managed MFP and HP LaserJet Pro printers.

“All the printers in the refreshed fleet are simplified and customized now,” said Darrell Strange, Knowledge Services Supervisor for the City of Arlington. “It’s a great improvement. With HP A3 printers, you just push a button and it works.”

The HP MPS solution is successfully providing the City of Arlington:

  • Faster print and scan speeds and HP FutureSmart firmware to maximize productivity and uptime

  • Cloud-based remote management with HP Smart Device Services and HP Web Jetadmin

  • 18% projected reduction in color print volume with HP Color Access Control

  • Printer-embedded security features including whitelisting, encryption, and authentication

CRN “Product of the Year” Methodology

First, the top five finalists are carefully selected by CRN editors in each of the 22 different product categories. Then, solution providers consider a number of factors when determining their ratings including but not limited to product quality and reliability; richness of product features and functionality; technical innovation; compatibility and ease of integration; and demonstrated ability to create new customer relationships or improve existing ones. This year’s survey garnered over 3,600 responses.
